As the world celebrated the World Cancer Day on 4th Feb 2018, Sitanagaram JET Ashram, celebrated the day by commemorating the services done by the many Vikasa Tarangini Seva volunteers tirelessly working for the health and well-being of women all over India and Nepal.
Speaking on this occasion, HH Chinna Jeeyar Swami made the many attendees ponder about the obvious causes of the dreaded disease, i.e., Cancer. Pointing out at the faults in the lifestyle that many of us are ignorant of, HH underlined the immediate need to arise and awake and act on the disease in its nascent stage by changing the lifestyles.
Swamiji swiftly brought the audience’s attention to the fairer gender that are easily the most neglected in this country. As is surveyed by the Indian Medical Council, in India, the women of India are easy victims of Breast Cancer, Ovarian among the other cancers. The reason for which is that most women are shy or do not care about their own health and put the family’s health on higher priority than theirs. This thought was the mother for the foundation of Mahila Arogya Vikas Kendrams by the Vikasa Tarangini Seva.
It was started off with two people and now shouldered by 100’s of volunteers, doctors and lab technicians. The number of women who benefitted from Mahila Arogya Vikas is a whopping 700,000 and still counting. About 606 camps were conducted all over India and Nepal. No other medical camp set-up in the entire country is recorded to have served that number of women. On an average there is at least 1 Mahila Arogya Vikas camp being conducted every day in an year.
What is the most admirable aspect of the Vikasa Tarangini Mahila Arogya Vikas is that dedication of volunteers in driving the women to attend the follow up tests. The camps use the most sophisticated equipment and most women don’t understand the price that it takes outside of the camp. The dedication that a Vikasa Tarangini volunteer shows here is unparalleled. So impressive is the service that NVIDIA took notice of these efforts and granted 50,000$ donation in recognition of the efforts and services.
On this occasion Swamiji greatly lauded the efforts of Mahila Arogya Vikas Supervisory Head Srimathi Madhavi garu, her entire family for their constant dedication and support towards this cause. Swamiji also called upon all the women who are above 35 years to come and avail the services and thus become aware of otherwise deadly disease.
The event was also adorned by Honourable Health Minister Sri Kamineni Srinivas Garu who greatly appreciated the efforts of Organization and promised to provide uninterrupted support to services extended by the organization. He also pointed out need for awareness of different kind of cancers that are wide spread among people. He extended knowledge about the Sophisticated Medical Equipment that is seeing the day in most areas across divided Andhra Pradesh.
