Sydney conducts a Walkathon to support Local Organisations Sydney volunteers and committee conducted a walkathon on the 24th of Feb, in support of RIDBC (Royal Institute of Deaf & Blind Children) and the Oncology Department at The Children’s Hospital at West mead. The choice of local organisations is made based on the JET global values of supporting the visually impaired and cancer awareness.

It rained continuously the previous day. But, on the day of the event, it was a typical clear Sydney Summer day. Around 50 participants of varying ages 6 years old to 60 years walked between 3 KMs and 10 KMs. One of the volunteers walked 25KMs as part of the commitment.

JET volunteers prepared sandwiches, fruits, juice and water to the participants. All the participants wanted to make this a regular event for the health and well-being. The 4-hour event raised about $6,000 AUD, which was donated equally to RIDBC and the Oncology Department at The Children’s Hospital at West mead.
