FELICITATION TO INTERMEDIATE Ist BATCH BLIND STUDENTS

Netravidyalaya Junior College, Sriramanagar, Samshabad, a pioneering Institution, first of its kind in the world, made a humble beginning in India, in the field of educating Blind Students. Intermediate (10+2) Students gave their final Board exams along with regular students, for the first time, using laptops during March 2008 (avoiding scribes). They finished their II year and appeared to the Board examinations in March 2009. All the exams were conducted under the direct supervision and monitoring from the Intermediate Board. Out of 26 students who appeared, all the 25 students came out successful with 12 of them standing above first class marks.

Dean of the Department of Commerce Osmania University Prof.Sriman Purushoththama Rao congratulated the students for their fantastic performance and said that all the students should pursue higher studies and also suggested the students that if they study under Osmania University that permission to allow them for Degree Exams also on laptops may be requested and University may consider such proposal too. HH Sri Chinnajeeyar Swamiji blessing this unique occasion said that from next year onwards, admissions into this College will be done from across the country, in addition to those students from Andhra Pradesh. Government as well as corporates should come forward to support such institutions who are serving the noble cause so that atleast good basic facilities and better services can be provided to the deprived, deserving students. At present the college is run by Jeeyar Educational Trust with the sole support of the generous philanthropists and none else. There are kids who are supporting these Blind students with their kiddy banks, and a part of their pocket money. There are many many volunteers who inspired by Chinnajeeyar Swamiji, visit and offer their hearts contribution to these Blind students even from their meagre earnings. In a society every one has a role to support such causes.
