People are being tested for various types of cancers, especially breast cancer which is more significantly rising in India according to the data from World Cancer statistics. Alarmingly, out of 103 people screened on the first day of this program, about 40 cases showed abnormal results.

A mobile diagnostic lab has been generously provided by the NRI Hospital of Guntur for the use of Vikasa Tarangini Seva organization’s Outreach mission. Highly motivated technicians and Doctors are working with this program by donating their time and expertise to work in the rural areas.

Vikasa Tarangini Seva volunteers also remind people of the hazardous consequences of the use of tobacco, alcohol and toxic drugs. And also promoting healthy habits of hygiene and hygienic measures in food and habits.

Tests and Diagnosis with the equipment gives the preliminary information of the abnormality. The positive cases shall be referred to the hospital for confirmation tests and required treatment. The positive cases are being sent to NRI Hospital in Guntur and also to area Government Hospitals, who have partnered with Vikasa Tarangini Seva to provide free treatment. Vikasa Tarangini Seva volunteers encourage women to participate in these tests, for early detection and treatment are key for patient’s quick recovery and normal way of life.

A database of these patients is maintained for following up with patients regularly, continued care of the patients, and for studying the trend of the disease. An average of 100-150 people are tested with the help of 5 dedicated doctors and 10 reliable technicians. Also more than 30 Vikasa Tarangini Seva volunteers are actively involved with this Outreach program in hope of creating awareness about cancer.

Vikasa Tarangini Seva is continuously striving to serve the healthcare needs in rural areas. These Outreach projects are made possible by the generous support of philanthropists and dedicated passionate people who joined the Vikasa Tarangini Seva cause. Within couple of months of launching the project, this program has spread to 4 mandalas (counties) of Warangal district. Yet, there is a dire necessity to establish more Outreach programs in so many rural areas of the state.

The pilot project is going to take a full drive in near future with the support of the noble hearts and also the organizations that are working for the similar cause.
