With the Mangalasasanams and divine guidance of His Holiness Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji, Vikasa Tarangini and VT Seva have launched ‘Vaidyalaya Seva’, a nationwide initiative dedicated to improving healthcare infrastructure in government hospitals through selfless service.
As the first project under this initiative, the organizations have successfully restored 172 washrooms at the Modern Government Maternity Hospital (MGMH), Petlaburj, Hyderabad, at a cost of approximately ₹41 lakhs. The renovation was completed within three months, without disrupting the hospital’s day-to-day operations.
The hospital serves thousands of pregnant women, new mothers, newborns, and their families every month. The project involved the complete renovation of damaged toilets, plumbing systems, flooring, sanitary fixtures, drainage, and other essential infrastructure, bringing the facilities up to modern standards. Today, these upgraded washrooms provide a clean, safe, and dignified environment for thousands of patients and caregivers.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. T. Jaya, Medical Superintendent of MGMH, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to HH Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji, Vikas Tarangini, and VT Seva for taking up a project that the hospital had long needed.
“The first essentials every patient requires upon entering a hospital are access to clean drinking water, handwashing facilities, and hygienic washrooms. This is especially important for pregnant women and maternity patients, constructed in 2007, the hospital had not undergone any major washroom renovation for nearly fifteen years due to limited public funding. Dr. Jaya appreciated the remarkable execution of the project, which was completed without interrupting patient care” she said.
Delivering the keynote address, Mr. Jagadeesh, IAS (Retd.), President of Vikas Tarangini, highlighted the philosophy of HH Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji, stating that true service extends beyond serving fellow human beings, it is about serving every living being as an offering to the Divine.
He observed that providing world-class infrastructure in such an institution ensures that underprivileged patients receive healthcare in an environment that reflects dignity, compassion, and excellence. He encouraged the nursing staff to actively educate patients on personal hygiene and preventive healthcare, emphasizing that awareness is as important as infrastructure in improving public health outcomes.
Ms. Sudha, Representative of VT Seva USA, spoke about the global humanitarian initiatives inspired by HH Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji under the guiding principle, “Serve all beings as service to God.”
She highlighted the organization’s initiatives in education, healthcare, tribal welfare, and disaster relief. She noted that these efforts have impacted millions through free education for visually challenged and tribal students, and women’s healthcare programs that have screened over 4.88 million women for cervical and breast cancer through awareness and early detection.
Speaking at the event, Miss Abhigya, Volunteer and Representative of VT Seva, shared that she had initially planned to support the donation of benches for patient attendants. However, after interacting with the Medical Superintendent, she realized that the hospital’s most urgent need was the restoration of its deteriorated washrooms. She brought the issue to the attention of Vikas Tarangini and VT Seva, which led to the approval and execution of the comprehensive renovation project. Miss Abhigya emphasized that while building new sanitation facilities is important, maintaining and restoring existing public infrastructure is equally essential to ensuring dignity, hygiene, and comfort for patients and their families.
Vision: 70 Vaidyalaya Seva Projects
As part of the celebrations marking the forthcoming 70th Thirunakshatram of HH Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji, Vikas Tarangini and VT Seva announced an ambitious goal of completing 70 healthcare infrastructure projects under the Vaidyalaya Seva initiative.
Future projects will focus on upgrading patient wards, improving sanitation facilities, providing safe drinking water systems, developing waiting areas, supporting ambulance services, and distributing nutritious food to patients and their attendants in government hospitals.
