Mahila Arogya Vikas, a wing of Vikasa Tarangini has been conducting cancer awareness camps since 2007. Volunteers touched the lives of more than 8.5 lakh women since inception. More than 2 and half lakh women got tested in the free camps conducted by the organisation, focusing on cervical and breast cancers.
Keeping the numbers aside, the dedication and concern of each volunteer of Mahila Arogya Vikas has inspired many, including IMA (Indian Medical Association). Recently, IMA has initiated a collaboration with Mahila Arogya Vikas to setup a cancer screening program in Hyderabad. On a single day, the volunteers spoke to 600 women with an aim to bring awareness on health. These camps help treat women of infections well before the woman’s health in greater danger.
Not only the medical representatives within our country, but also a senior Iranian doctor, named Sushie who collaborates with World Health Organisation spreading awareness across the world was awed by the humongous efforts of Mahila Arogya Vikas!
Today marks yet another milestone for Mahila Arogya Vikas. Sri M. Jagadeeshwar, IAS, the Principle Secretary of the Department of Women Development and Child Welfare visited Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji. He came along with the first team of 116 Anganwadi workers to get trained for conducting cancer awareness camps in their respective villages.
Mahila Arogya Vikas organised a two-day workshop at JIVA asram for Anganwadi workers. The participants including Sriman M. Jagadeeshwar Rao garu were amazed at the insight provided by Swamiji on the camps, the instruments used in the camp, the process, the benefits, the vision – all driven solely by His concern for the well-being of women.
Here’s a brief excerpt of Swamiji for all women and for everyone who love their woman!
If our women are putting their health at stake due to lack of awareness, it is a pity on our part! We cannot let our women fall ill because they simply did not have a regular check-up. We should do everything we can to ensure every SINGLE woman has knowledge about what an abnormality is (we need not use the word ‘cancer’, because whatever the observation could be only an infection and if proper care is taken, it will be cured.) However, the abnormality can lead to cancer if care is not taken. Let us ensure all women are aware of this and will go get regular check-up done.
Besides the medical tests, women should be made aware of healthier practices in life style. Choosing home-cooked food, pesticide-free vegetables or fruits, no plastic based bottled water, regular exercise, good activities to keep the spirits up in peace and joy!
A woman is highly respected in Bharath (India), lets continue to keep that up and protect them. They are very kind at heart and loving in nature. Let’s all work together for their health because they are worried for their families all the time, and not about themselves!

We have seen partnerships that benefit business, partnerships that support marketing of each entity, but these kinds of collaborations are healthy and completely selfless. We want more and more women to stop watching unending television shows that impart nothing useful in them, and get involved in taking good care of themselves, family and other women as much as they can!
Swamiji said, ‘Cancer is the uncontrolled growth of cells. These cells do not want to work for the benefit of the body, but want to be independent!’. The way Swamiji explained in layman terms on what it is and what medicines do, what kind of equipment is being used by Mahila Arogya Vikas etc, – it is amazing!
When Swamiji, such a great soul shows immense concern for a woman’s well-bring, this can be considered the biggest gift to all women on International Women’s Day!
