On 11/12/16, a cancer awareness and prevention camp was done in the premises of The Southern Textile Ltd, Sulur, Coimbatore. Prior to the camp, a survey was done by our Mahila Arogya Vikas Coimbatore team in the surrounding villages of Sulur. There was a good turnout of 217 beneficiaries who were screened for cervical and breast cancer.
Among them 34 were identified as cases for followup and are currently being sent for further tests.
The camp was conducted by Srimathi Madhavi Ravindra in the presence of Dr. Jeeva, gynaecologist and Assistant Professor in PSG Hospitals and Medical College, Coimbatore. Some of our youth were happy to do service in the camp.
Earlier the camp was inaugurated by lighting a lamp by our guests Sriman Shanmukham, VHP leader and Sriman Senthilkumar, President, Kamma Maha Samajam.
Accupuncture treatment was also done by our Vice President Sriman N Balamurali to the beneficiaries who had other health problems.
During the camp Prajna presentation was also done by Srimathi Gayathri, Professor in PSG Institute of Management. The presentation was also well attended enthusiastically by the crowd who were waiting for the tests. Enquiries were there to start prajna classes in that area.
