Cancer Detection Camp was conducted in rural areas of Vizianagaram by Vikasa Tarangini Vizianagaram

The Vikasa Tarangini members have selected “SIRIPURAM and CHANDRAMPETA Villages” of Gantyada (Mdl), Vizianagaram (Dt) for CANCER SCREENING. There are about 605 houses in Siripuram village and 342 houses in Chandrampeta . The population of both the villages is 2532. Among them 732 were women. The teams started the survey on 22nd of SEPTEMBER 2010. The survey continued for 3 days and about 15 Vikasa Tarangini  members participated in the camp. It included door to door survey of women and data collection. Few severe cases were identified.

The team members went to both the Villages on 2nd October 2010 to inform them about the Camp on 3rd OCTOBER at Siripuram.

Two prominent Doctors rendered their services in this camp. Free medication was provided to the patients. On 3rd October, 140 women attended the camp. Out of them 68 women were found to have certain symptoms. Few were also found to be suspected for breast cancer. All these women were examined by Dr Indira, gynecologist. Pap smear test was also conducted for 25 women. The samples were also sent to the lab for further examination. All these cases doesn’t show any abnormality.

The suspected cases of palate cancer were examined by physician
Dr Narendra, MD. He examined 71cases and out of which 5 were doubtful cases. In these 2 were sent to cancer hospital for further tests and the other three were examined in his hospital.
